Clio Introduces Custom Fields, New Rewards Program

Leading cloud-based practice management provider celebrates fourth launch anniversary with new features, key milestones

Vancouver, BCOctober 2, 2012 – This week, Clio (www.goclio.com), the industry-leading cloud-based law practice management platform, celebrates its fourth anniversary with the introduction of one of its most-requested features: Custom Fields.

In the years since its launch, Clio has helped to transform the legal practice management landscape by offering small- and mid-sized firms unprecedented ease-of-use, affordability and practice mobility with its cloud-based system. More than ten thousand legal professionals rely on Clio every day, and the company has grown from three to over sixty employees since its launch. Users of Clio are now managing over 7 million contacts, 1.75 million matters, 4 million documents and 2 million e-mails using the system.

With the introduction of Custom Fields, Clio users can now track additional information relating to their Matters and Contacts in a structured way. Clio’s Custom Fields supports “typed data,” meaning a user can specify that a Custom Field is a text field, checkbox, date, currency, number, currency, picklist or a contact or matter reference. Custom Fields are also fully integrated with Clio’s Document Automation system, allowing users to create form-based documents that integrate custom field data from Matters or Contacts.

“Custom Fields has been one of our most-requested features, and we’re thrilled to deliver a whole new level of application flexibility to our customers,” said Jack Newton, Clio’s co-founder and CEO, “Every practice area has specific data-related needs; Clio users can now tailor their matters and contacts according to their specific practice requirements.”

To thank its valued customers for their support, Clio has launched Clio Rewards, where customers are rewarded with iPads and other gifts as a token of appreciation for introducing new customers to the platform.

Is there any way to get to the information in templates for linked fields?  For example, I can put a custom field for opposing counsel, on the clio webpage I can click a nicely generated link to get the opposing counsel's information.  When using document generation there does not seem to be a way to get any information other than opposing counsel's name into the document; if I want to send a letter to opposing counsel I must still manually look up the address.

JasonStone , please take a look now. We added more information to the document automation.

Is there be any way to search based on these tags or extract this data into spreadsheets? I see this as a pretty huge step!
