#cliotraining Tip: Universal Search Window as Shortcut

We’ve covered using the “More” button, and how to quickly find and sort tasks. Both require going into a particular tab, like Tasks or Matters. Our Engagement Manager, Steve McCauley, offers up an easier, faster way: Universal Search.

At the top of the screen, there is a search box:

Search bar

The Universal Search Window is a great shortcut to everything else in your account – rather than clicking Matters then finding or filtering to the Matter you want, simply start typing the Client name or Matter description to see a list of options in a drop down menu.

If you right click on the drop down result you want, it opens in another tab, which is handy if you just need a quick glance and don’t want to lose your current spot. If you want to see more than just Matters and Contacts associated with a search, simply click the magnifying glass to bring up a page of results for Matters, Contacts, your own Calendar entries, Documents and Time entries that contain the search terms.

Got a tip to share? Let us know. We’d love to hear them!
