Small Firm Innovation Wins ABA Journal Most Popular LPM Blog #blawg100

Small Firm Innovation, a blog dedicated to first person accounts of small firm success, won the ABA Journal’s Blawg100 competition for most popular blog in the Legal Practice Management (LPM) category.

In the wake of the financial crisis and a rapidly shifting legal landscape, Small Firm Innovation launched in April of 2011 during the ABA’s legal technology showcase, ABA TECHSHOW. A resource by, and for, solo and small firm lawyers, the site focuses on two specific areas: the business side of running a law practice, and the nitty-gritty of what makes a law firm a success.

“It was an honour just to be nominated and included in such a well known, fantastic group,” Small Firm Innovation editor Gwynne Monahan said. “To be voted most popular blog in the LPM category in the same year we launched is truly a testament to its quality and usefulness.”

To help keep the site cohesive in its message, each month focuses on a theme. Themes in 2011 included: “Transitions”; “Paperless Law Offices”; “Time Management; and “End-of-Year Financial Lessons.”

Small Firm Innovation was created and is sponsored by Clio, a cloud-based practice management solution.

“Solo and small firm lawyers make up the majority of the legal market, but are underserved by traditional ‘big firm’-oriented information sources. They can learn a lot from each other, and we saw a need to provide a forum for solo and small firm lawyers to share something unique or helpful that has made their practice a success,” Clio CEO and co-founder Jack Newton said.
