Putting Your Practice in the Cloud: A Pre-Flight Checklist

September’s Texas Bar Journal featured an article by Clio’s co-founder Jack Newton titled “Putting Your Practice in the Cloud: A Pre-Flight Checklist”.

The article details a “pre-flight checklist” that will help readers understand cloud computing, its benefits, and the potential risks to be minimized. The checklist includes several important factors to consider when assessing a cloud computing provider:

  • The Ethics of Cloud Computing
  • Ethical Considerations in Texas
  • Encryption
  • Server Security
  • Provider Viability
  • Data Locality
  • Data Portability
  • Geographic Redundancy and Backup Provisions
  • Terms of Service
  • Privacy Policy
  • Service Availability
